Softskills training “Isolation and identification of pigments from marine natural materials” with instructor Dr. Lia Kusmita, S.Si., M.Si from the Semarang Pharmasi Foundation College of Pharmacy. The activity begins with an explanation from the instructor regarding the topic; Extraction of marine ingredients used spirulina and seaweed; then fractionation is carried out; Isolation by thin layer chromatography (TLC). The isolates that have been obtained proceed to isolate identification using UV-Vis spectrophotometry for analysis of UV and Visible wavelengths as an absorption area for detecting compounds that have a low detection limit and have a high level of accuracy and precision.

The training was held on Monday, November 4 2024 at 11.00 – 15.00 WIB at the Water Quality Laboratory Building H107 FPIK Undip for pigment extraction, the Tropical Marine Biotechnology Laboratory Building J201 FPIK Undip for identification. The training participants consisted of 4 groups (16 participants) from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students in Aquatic Resources Management and Marine Science, FPIK Undip.

Thank you to the participants who took part in this activity, hopefully the activity can be useful and increase the level of laboratory soft skills of FPIK Undip students. See you at the next activity!
