The final exam marks the end of a student’s journey toward a doctoral degree at Diponegoro University. The path to a doctorate is challenging, encompassing numerous seminar exams, research, and the rigorous process of writing scientific articles. On Friday, October 24, 2025, the Water Resources Management Doctoral Study Program inaugurated its 202nd doctorate, Dr. Yusuf Kamlasi, S.Pi., M.Si., who was enrolled as a DMSDP student in 2022 on an Indonesian Education Scholarship.
The final exam took place in a hybrid format in Room 305 of Building J, using the Zoom Meeting platform from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM WIB. In his dissertation presentation entitled “Seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) Cultivation Development Strategy Based on Socio-Economic Ecology in Semau Island Waters, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province” Promovendus provides a review of seaweed cultivation development strategies including (a) using environmentally friendly materials to maintain sustainable water conditions (b) increasing institutional roles, (c) optimizing seaweed trade in improving the economy and (d) promoting seaweed products through partnership patterns. Promovendus completed his Bachelor’s (S1) studies at Nusa Cendana University, Aquaculture study program. Further studies in Master’s education at the Bogor Agricultural Institute, Coastal and Marine Resource Management study program, graduated in 2008. Currently, Promovendus is a lecturer at the Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic and received the 10-year Satya Lencanawirakarsa award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Promovendus will continue his doctoral program at Diponegoro University, majoring in Water Resources Management, in 2022, with an Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI).
The Examination was led by Dr. Putut Har Riyadi, S.Pi, M.Si (Vice Dean of FPIK and Examiner), as Chair of the Examination, accompanied by Dr. Aninditia Sabdaningsih, S.Si., M.Si. (Head of the Study Program), as Secretary of the Examination Session. The Examination Team members consisted of: Prof. Dr. Maria Dyah Nur Meinita, S.Pi, M.Sc (External Examiner) from Jenderal Soedirman University; Tita Elfitasari, S.Pi, M.Sc, Ph.D. (Internal Examiner); Dr. Ir. Frida Purwanti, M.Sc. (Co-Promotor); Prof. Dr. Ir. Slamet Budi Prayitno, M.Sc. (Co – Promotor); Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Rejeki, M.Sc. (Promotor). Based on the assessment results from the Closed Exam Examiner Team on behalf of Dr. Yusuf Kamlasi, S.Pi., M.Si., it was declared PASSED with the predicate CUM LAUDE. Congratulations and success on your new title Dr. Yusuf! Continue to work in the development of science and make real contributions to the welfare of society, maintaining the good name of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences and your beloved alma mater, Diponegoro University.
