The closed final exam marks the end of a student’s journey toward earning a doctoral degree at Diponegoro University. The path to a doctorate is not easy, encompassing numerous seminars, research, and the rigorous process of writing scientific articles. Dr. Aditya Putra Basir, enrolled as a student in the Department of Marine and Fisheries Engineering (DMSDP) in 2022, successfully completed his three-year study with both joy and sorrow.

The closed final exam took place in-person in Building J, Room 307, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM WIB. He presented his dissertation, entitled “Implementation of Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) as a Sustainable Aquaculture System in the Banda Maluku Marine Conservation Area” Promovendus provides a review of the IMTA system showing that from the total area of ​​the research location (14.11 ha), the level of water suitability for group A of Kuwe fish (C. ignobilish), sea cucumber (H. atra) and seaweed (K. alvarezii) is very suitable (SS) 6.64 ha (47%), suitable waters (S) is 2.97 ha (21%), moderately suitable waters (CS) is 4.52 ha (32%). The suitability of waters for group B of Red Snapper fish (L. sebae), Lola clam (T. niloticus), and seaweed (K alvarezii) is very suitable (SS) 4.09 ha (29%), suitable waters (S) is 5.22 ha (37%), moderately suitable waters (CS) is 4.80 ha (34%) of the total area of ​​waters used as research locations. of the total area of ​​waters used as research locations. The success rate of IMTA implementation using growth indicators, N and P concentrations and the economic value of cultivation businesses shows that all cultivated commodities experienced growth during maintenance with an average survival rate above 90%. The priority of strategic perception to make IMTA-based village-based aquaculture an alternative livelihood for the coastal communities of the Banda Islands is an aggressive strategy (S-O) namely by applying IMTA-based village-based aquaculture for efficient use of waters, feed, and local materials for sustainable cultivation, conducting training and mentoring to the community on cultivation techniques with the IMTA system, utilizing Kuwe fish, sea cucumbers and seaweed as the main commodities in IMTA-based village-based aquaculture activities, utilizing the use of bamboo and wood materials in making KJA, KJT and floating raft cultivation containers, utilizing the abundance of trash feed to minimize operational costs of cultivation with the IMTA system, as well as strengthening village institutions (BUMDES) to organize the community (fishermen) in IMTA-based village-based aquaculture cultivation groups. Promovendus has completed his Bachelor’s Degree (S1) at the Hatta-Sjahrir Fisheries College in Banda Neira and graduated in 2013. His Master’s Degree (S2) was completed at Brawijaya University, Malang in 2017 with a scholarship from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. In 2022, Promovendus was accepted into the Doctoral Program in Aquatic Resources Management, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, with a scholarship from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Promovendus is currently a lecturer in the Aquaculture Study Program at Banda Naira University, Central Maluku.

The Closed Examination was led by Prof. Agus Trianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Dean of FPIK and as Examiner), as the Chair of the Session, accompanied by Dr. Aninditia Sabdaningsih, S.Si., M.Si. Based on the assessment results from the Closed Exam Examiner Team on behalf of Indah Saraswati, it was declared PASSED with the predicate CUMLAUDE and became the 201st graduate of the Aquatic Resources Management Doctoral Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University.
