The closed final exam marks the end of a student’s journey toward earning a doctoral degree at Diponegoro University. The path to a doctorate is not easy, encompassing numerous seminars, research, and the rigorous process of writing scientific articles.

The closed final exam took place offline in Building J, Room 307, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM WIB. In his dissertation presentation entitled “Potential of Bioactive Compounds of Skipjack Tuna Waste Protein Hydrolysis (Katsuwonus pelamis (Linnaeus, 1758)) as an Immunomodulator” Promovenda provides a review of the Sequencing or sequence of peptides that have bioactivity as immunostimulants as follows: GLFLAMHYTPDVESAFASVAHICR ((G)Glysine – (L) Leucine – (F)Phenylalanine – (L)Leucine – (A)Alanine – (M)Methionine – (H)Histidine – (Y)Tyrosine – (T)Threonine – (P)Proline – (D)Aspartic acid – (V)Valine – (E)Glutamic acid – (S)Serine – (A)Alanine – (F)Phenylalanine – (A)Alanine – (S)Serine – (V)Valine – (H)Histidine – (I)Isoleucine – (C)Cysteine – (R)Arginine). The immunostimulant dose of skipjack tuna HPLI (Hydrolyzed Fish Waste Protein) was 1.6g/kg body weight of the test animal. The immunomodulatory mechanism of skipjack tuna HPLI is by modulating the immune system to a balanced state, primarily through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities that combat oxidative stress. These collective benefits not only improve the immune response but also protect vital organs such as the pancreas from further damage, ultimately helping manage diabetes.

Promovendus earned his undergraduate education in the Fisheries Product Technology program, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, graduating in 2009. In 2015, he completed his Master’s degree in Coastal Resource Management at Diponegoro University. In 2021, Promovendus received an Indonesian Education Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to pursue a doctoral degree in Aquatic Resource Management at Diponegoro University. He is currently a lecturer at Nahdlatul Ulama University in Purwokerto, Central Java. Promovendus has successfully written 2 articles and 1 PATENT, the first entitled Functional Properties of Protein Hydrolysates from Skipjack Tuna Byproducts Using Response Surface Methodology which was published in the reputable international journal in Squalen Bulletin of Marine and Fisheries Postharvest and Biotechnology Vol.19. No.3. Year 2024. The second article entitled Nutritional and Antioxidant Content of Skipjack Tuna Waste Protein Hydrolysate Resulting from Optimization of pH, Temperature and Hydrolysis Time in the Accredited National Journal (Sinta 3) in Fisheries Science: Indonesian Journal of Fisheries Science and Technology Vo. 21. No. 4. 2025. The third article entitled Evaluation of Immunomodulatory Properties of Fish-Protein Hydrolysate from Skipjack Tuna by-products (Katsuwonus pelamis, Linnaeus 1758) in Streptozotocin-Nicotinamide-Induced Diabetic Rats published in a reputable international journal in World’s Veterinary Journal Vol. 15. No. 1 of 2025. As well as a draft patent application entitled “BIOACTIVE PEPTIDE ISOLATED COMPOUNDS” on July 7, 2025 with application number P00202506203.
