The final exam marks the end of a student’s journey toward a doctoral degree at Diponegoro University. The path to a doctorate is not easy, encompassing numerous seminars, research, and the rigorous process of writing scientific articles. Ren Fitriadi, a student in the Doctoral Program in Aquatic Resources Management, successfully completed his studies in 2 years and 10 months and received the 2022 Indonesian Education Scholarship.
The closed final exam took place offline in Building J, room 307, FPIK Undip, from 10:00-13:00 WIB. In his dissertation presentation entitled “The Effect of Providing a Lactic Acid Bacteria Consortium as a Probiotic Candidate Through Artemia sp. Bioencapsulation on the Growth and Immune Response of Vaname Shrimp Seeds (Penaeus vannamei)” Promovendus provided a review of the research that successfully studied extracellular enzyme-producing bacteria isolated from the digestive tract of Jerbung shrimp. The bacteria obtained from the selection results were used as Artemia sp. bioencapsulation to increase growth and prevent pathogenic diseases. Providing a BAL consortium through Artemia sp. bioencapsulation was able to increase bacterial abundance and nutritional content. BAL consortium is able to grow well and perform its function in being able to increase survival, growth (weight gain, DGR and SGR), increase immune response (THC, PO, RB) and resistance of Vaname shrimp larvae to V. Parahaemolyticus bacterial infection with the best results in the administration of Artemia sp. Bioencapsulation.
Promovendus completed his undergraduate education at the Fisheries College, majoring in Aquaculture, graduating in 2012, and continued his Master’s degree at Brawijaya University, majoring in Aquaculture, graduating in 2015. He has been pursuing his doctoral degree at Diponegoro University, majoring in Aquatic Resources Management, since 2022, as a recipient of the Indonesian Education Scholarship. Promovendus has been a lecturer at Jenderal Soedirman University since 2019, majoring in Aquaculture. He is also active in research and community service, resulting in the creation of Scopus-indexed articles.
The Closed Examination was led by Prof. Agus Trianto, ST, M.Sc, Ph.D (Dean of FPIK and as an Examiner), as the Chair of the Session, accompanied by Dr. Aninditia Sabdaningsih, S.Si., M.Si. (Head of Study Program), as the Secretary of the Examination Session and Co-Promoter with the Examination Team Members consisting of; Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunanti Mahasri, M.Si. (External Examiner) from Airlangga University (Unair) expertise in Aquaculture parasitology; Prof. Dr. Ir. Sarjito, M.AppSc (Internal Examiner); Prof. Dr.Ir. Petrus Hary Tjahja Soedibya, M.S. (Co – Promoter); Prof. Dr. Ir. Slamet Budi Prayitno, M.Sc. (Promoter). Based on the assessment results from the Closed Examination Examination Team on behalf of Dr. Ren Fitriadi was declared PASSED and became the 200th graduate of the Aquatic Resources Management Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University with the predicate CUMLAUDE. Congratulations and success on your new degree Dr. Ren! Continue to work in the development of science and make real contributions to the welfare of society, maintaining the good name of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences and your beloved alma mater, Diponegoro University.
