This General Lecture will be held in a hybrid manner on Tuesday, 26 September 2023 at 09.00 – 12.00 WIB in Building D111, FPIK Undip. This activity was opened by the Deputy Dean for Field I Prof. Agus Trianto, M.Sc., Ph.D who represented the Dean who was unable to attend and welcomed. This General Lecture was attended by Lecturers from the Department of Aquatic Resources, Semarang City Regional KKP Team, Academics, and FPIK Undip Students. Apart from that, those who joined Zoom Online from several regions enthusiastically participated in the public lecture activities.

Mr. Firdaus’ presentation was very interesting, he discussed Strategic Issues and Stakeholder Collaboration for Conservation and Marine Biodiversity in Indonesia. In 2050, there will be quite serious challenges in line with the increasing population in the world. The world population is expected to grow by more than 30% and FAO predicts that protein requirements will increase by up to 70%. This means that global demand for fish will double between 2020 and 2050, this demand will be mostly met by aquaculture production. Therefore, the Blue Economy Policy in the Fisheries and Marine sector needs to be followed up to support 1) Marine protection and marine conservation resources by expanding marine conservation areas, 2) Reducing pressure from fisheries with measurable quota-based fishing and then developing aquaculture in coastal and inland seas. sustainable, 3) Maintaining the sustainability of marine areas including monitoring and controlling coastal areas and small islands and controlling plastic waste in the sea.

Thank you for the participation of participants who have attended and enlivened the public lecture activities. Hopefully this activity can be useful for the present and the future. See you at the next meeting!
